A Modern Material Palette 

Design Insight - Inclusivity at the Forefront

A variety of lush greenery is incorporated into the design and plays a role in adding a layer of tranquility and warmth. 

A moss wall provides a refreshing and vibrant backdrop to a recreational leisure area.

The amount of tile in Sq ft we replaced, which is more than enough to cover the Canadian Tire Center rink! 

The number of steps it takes to get from one side of the lobby to the other, about 520 ft!

The floor to ceiling polished blue granite, which was bought in bulk when the building was first constructed, characterizes the space.

The CSQ lobby further enriches an open and inviting space that complements the businesses inside and seamlessly blends with the streetscape on the outside.

Raw Loft Design

Shared courtyard and rooftop terrace provide ample outdoor amenity space.

The bridge links the two towers and provides access to a public rooftop restaurant.

Letting the views do the work! This building offers a beautiful courtyard which serves as a backdrop for meeting spaces. Quite the calming setting!

Raw and sophisticated palette. The bare concrete floors and columns and the black ceiling grid are a contrast to the chic furnishings.

Design Insight - The Mitel Building

Some of the furniture pieces were actually repurposed from another Tech company who was downsizing due to the effects of the pandemic!

Despite the virtual aspects of the workplace that we have adapted to, Hub350 is meant as a place to reconnect in a human way

Work anywhere! The setting at the "Finance Quarter" bar feels just right to catch-up on emails. It's also a great spot to run into someone and make connections.

Adaptable spaces can be used by students & businesses for events or private meetings.

Design Insight - The Big Repurposing

A wide open and welcoming lobby connects the street to the building and is an important transition that enlivens the streetscape.

The multi-purpose rooftop terrace includes fire pits, a hot tub and pergola for outdoor entertaining - not to mention a great view of the Ottawa skyline.

Design Insight - Exterior "Skin"

That's the number of tonnes of carbon diverted from avoiding demolition and choosing to re-use the office building. 

This building was originally known as the Trebla building. Can you figure out what it stand for? Try backwards!

The number of residential units added to the downtown core as part of this development.

For this project we had the opportunity to reuse and donate the original office building’s materials: carpet tiles, light fixtures, cabinets, and copper wiring!

Design Insights - "The Worm"

Amount of square feet of drywall used here; that’s more than 4 football fields!

The reclaimed brick dates back to that era - that's not super old for brick but much older than the vast majority of Shopifolk!

The reception area is screened by a locally made slatted wood wall.

Cody's Café is named after one of Shopify's founders who also is a coffee aficionado.  

All floors feature elevated lounges with city views where concentrated work can be done. 

These pairing pods, where two people work side by side, are inspired by the colourful homes in eastern Canada.
